Frequently Asked Questions
How can I book an appointment?
The easiest way to book a tattoo appointment with me is to fill out my enquiry form. This is an in depth questionnaire that helps me streamline the booking process. Alternatively you can send me a DM on Instagram if you are unsure/ want to discuss your idea and we can go from there.
Where do you work?
I am based at the amazing Moth & Flame Tattoo in Bromley, SE London (you can find a link to google maps here) I recommend using CITY MAPPER app to find the best public transport routes alternatively if you are driving there is a free public car park located here. Please be aware that the park has different opening times throughout the year so check the website to avoid any inconvenience.
how does the design process work?
Once you have filled out my enquiry form I will either reach out with some additional questions or to book you in for a consultation if a more detailed chat is required. The process from here varies based on the design but usually we will discuss the idea and placement, look at any reference images you have and possibly do some drawing on the skin in person if the piece is large (backs, sleeves etc) or fitting a specific gap/part of the body. From here I will start designing before you appointment (how ahead of time depends on how busy my schedule is).
Will I see my design ahead of my appointment?
This depends on the type of tattoo you are booked in for. For larger multiple session projects (Sleeves, backs etc) I will usually have a couple of consultations where we look at some rough sketches and check placement/sizing/flow. Throughout this process we ensure that we are both on the same page regarding the design.
For smaller tattoos I usually fit these around my larger pieces and so this is why I try to have my enquiry form/consultation process as detailed as possible to make sure we are on the same page as I will usually draw these up the day before the booking or the morning of. We can of course make changes to your design in person on the day my aim is to make the best tattoos possible that you are going to love forever!
How much does a tattoo with you cost?
Because of the wide variety of different tattoos that I do my pricing works differently depending on the piece. Mostly I operate on an hourly charge, this varies from £80/hr to £120/hr depending on the type of tattoo and day of the week. All of my sessions have an upper limit of £600 per client for a full day. So if you can sit long sessions then you can often end up with free tattoo time at the end of the day!
I am always available to answer questions about pricing and give as accurate a quote as possible so get in touch and we can chat or organise a consultation to discuss.
How can i best prepare for my appointment?
Please find information on how to best prepare for your upcoming appointment here.
How do I look after my tattoo?
Please look at my aftercare instructions to ensure the best conditions for your tattoo to heal well. However if you have any concerns about healing your tattoo please send me a DM. (almost) No question is too stupid!
do you tattoo everything?
Over the years working in busy street shops in both New Zealand and the UK I’ve gained experience in a wide variety of different tattoo styles, and would say I’m proficient and able to execute the majority of requests that I receive. That being said in more recent years I have narrowed my focus to mainly doing the styles that really get me excited and fired up! Ornamental tattoos, traditional tattoos and Japanese tattoos fill the majority of my time now, however I do still tattoo other styles so please do reach out with your request here. If I think that your idea will be better executed by someone else I will be able to direct you to a different artist in the Moth & Flame Family or perhaps a friend that tattoos nearby!
Do you do reworks or cover ups?
Of course! if you have an old tattoo that needs a bit of love or a piece that you are no longer a fan of then I love doing what I can to try and have you leaving happier! Usually these kinds of tattoos require us having a consultation (virtual or in person) so I can best see what we are working with and we can discuss design options. This is often needed as when conducting a cover up you are more constrained by the existing tattoo for how best to approach.
can I bring someone with me?
If you are feeling nervous or would be more comfortable bringing someone with you to your appointment then please reach out before your session, my aim is for you to feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible so I will try to accomodate as best I can! I’m afraid at Moth & Flame Tattoo due to limited space we can’t have a whole gang of people come and wait during your session but I will try to ease any concerns your have and answer questions before your booking!
